Variations on "The Artist and the Art"

Variations on The Artist and the Art

Pursuits of a humble heart
First fruits of a noble art
Tribulation into virtue
The Artist’s greatest joy
In creating you

The empty vessel
The silent canvas
The open heart
These are the tools
And this is My art

Starlight and the eye
Shoreline and the sea
Whisper of light
Into all that was and
All that will ever be

A moment of time
Speaks of infinity
The power of love
Known through humility

If God is love
And gives beyond all measure
Therefore infinite and eternal
An endless networking of computations
For even one single blade of grass

This blade of grass will one day pass
Not so that who has created all things
My compliments to the chef
And to whatever He brings
It is sufficient

The Artist and the Art

The Artist and the Art

I have a point
A direction
And yet every step
Each moment
Comes as a surprise

Take nothing for granted
The mystery of eternity
Is revealed in the always present

Shoreline and the sea
Starlight and the eye
The whisper that comes in the night
Sweet memories branching out towards the light

Embracing sorrow
Promises of a better tomorrow
A river of song
An ocean of variations

Come to me all who are heavy laden and burdened
Sing your songs of sad restraint
Turn your tears into the finest wine
My Father is the dresser and I am the vine

The pursuits of a humble heart
The first fruits of a noble art
Tribulation into virtue
The Artist greatest joy
In creating you

Easter Tidings

A Happy Easter to You! Praise to the One who paid for our sins, and earned us freedom and eternal life with Him! Accept and be free! We love because He first loved us. May we rejoice in His love, today and always!

Let the music begin! & 'A Little Demon'

What better time than St. Patrick”s Day to launch a blog of a somewhat displaced Irish bard, my dear husband--- Jimmy O’Coyle! Far from the shores of the Emerald Isles, nonetheless a mystical, musical muse in his own right, I am privileged to share some of his moments of insight, humor and occasional lucidity!

Today’s entry is an account of our recent days: life with our youngest of four!

A Little Demon

A little demon

Made sport of her hind end

She is screaming
A religious ritual has set in

Threatens to confiscate his devices
Escalating threats
The two tango to the music of his vices
The more she engages the crazier it gets

Compulsion and unbridled desire
Struggling to tame but not to break
Fanning the flames of hells fire
With that old wily snake

Love something more than God
That little demon
Will laugh and applaud
You’ll still be screaming

Somebody help me please
My love has created my torment
My heart like a piece of Swiss cheese
My reservoir is dry and spent

My get up and go
Has gone and went
How does thy garden grow?
Harvest thy malcontent

Partake of ill-gotten bitter fruit
Desires so vast
Our love minute
Portrait in contrast

God is love and light
We are darkened theater
Void of reason and sight
Believing we are greater

Lord have mercy
On our best attempt
Beyond all that is worthy
Familiarity with contempt

One final plea all I ask
Turn my demon into your saint
Take from me this task
My fortune and my complaint

As thunderous rain to the earth
As a cup of bitter herbs
Transform them into thy worth
In new songs and in other words
