Let the music begin! & 'A Little Demon'

What better time than St. Patrick”s Day to launch a blog of a somewhat displaced Irish bard, my dear husband--- Jimmy O’Coyle! Far from the shores of the Emerald Isles, nonetheless a mystical, musical muse in his own right, I am privileged to share some of his moments of insight, humor and occasional lucidity!

Today’s entry is an account of our recent days: life with our youngest of four!

A Little Demon

A little demon

Made sport of her hind end

She is screaming
A religious ritual has set in

Threatens to confiscate his devices
Escalating threats
The two tango to the music of his vices
The more she engages the crazier it gets

Compulsion and unbridled desire
Struggling to tame but not to break
Fanning the flames of hells fire
With that old wily snake

Love something more than God
That little demon
Will laugh and applaud
You’ll still be screaming

Somebody help me please
My love has created my torment
My heart like a piece of Swiss cheese
My reservoir is dry and spent

My get up and go
Has gone and went
How does thy garden grow?
Harvest thy malcontent

Partake of ill-gotten bitter fruit
Desires so vast
Our love minute
Portrait in contrast

God is love and light
We are darkened theater
Void of reason and sight
Believing we are greater

Lord have mercy
On our best attempt
Beyond all that is worthy
Familiarity with contempt

One final plea all I ask
Turn my demon into your saint
Take from me this task
My fortune and my complaint

As thunderous rain to the earth
As a cup of bitter herbs
Transform them into thy worth
In new songs and in other words
